We are a small but mighty team who aim to help you overcome the barriers faced in today’s mental health and living crisis.
Our story all began with you. We wanted to launch a service, turning a hobby into something more.
As a care and mental health advocate for over 30 years with outreach & in environments that are there to engage & support our most vulnerable, I came across many barriers as a worker and as an empathic individual & client. The approaches taken by some services who rely heavily on data to get results are not really seeing & understand how frustrating it is to be heard.
I had witnessed & been the victim of discrimination & bullying due to mobility & awareness of ethical practices being taken advantage of.
I decided to take the path of helping others in finding solutions in an unorthodox way that works for us here @ F.P.
We are now embarking a mission to help you to overcome any situation that might seem never ending & stressful to give you access to services with advocates to support you to the goal.
We at Functional People have a wide range of experience in .Gov forms assessment forms & Advocacy
When you first have an appointment you will meet with a member of FP who will then engage with an appropriate volunteer or support advocate we will create an action plan usually a 3-6 month plan if form filling for any MH Advocacy we remain as support for longer.
Each person will have an individual week-week plan which involves a meet up or a call by phone. this includes clear specifications on what we do and what you want to achieve.
We also hold community events & talks about Mental Health & inclusion.
